California Partnership for Access to Treatment

The California Partnership for Access to Treatment (CPAT) is a diverse network of advocacy organizations, community groups, health care providers and employers, committed to ensuring a healthy and productive California.

CPAT serves as a communications, education and resource network to keep its partners and the communities they serve informed about critical issues involving access to treatment in California.

Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Toolkit

Medicare Part D open enrollment is approaching!

Open enrollment is an opportunity to review and update Part D prescription drug coverage. New healthcare plans become available each year that may offer better coverage or save money, so it’s important for participants to take the time to carefully review options.

Open enrollment starts on October 15 and closes on December 7.

This resource is intended for you to use to educate your networks on Medicare Part D plans offered during open enrollment. With a wide variety of prescription drug plans to choose from, Medicare Part D has a plan that will fit any patients’ needs.

We encourage you to share this toolkit with your patients, constituents and stakeholders so they can be educated about the open enrollment period for this vital program.

Medicare Part D saves and improves patient lives at a low cost, expanding access to treatment for patients in a dramatic way. Eighty-eight percent of Americans age 65 and older are satisfied with their coverage and 80 percent say that they consider their Medicare drug plan to be a good value, according to a recent study.

To learn more about the prescription drug plans that are available in your area, check out the Medicare Plan Finder at www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan. You can also call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) or visit www.medicare.gov to enroll.

Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Exchange Toolkit

CPAT is pleased to provide our partners and advocates with an Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Exchange Toolkit to assist you in educating your network to choose the best plan and coverage for prescription medicines in essential health benefits.

The Affordable Care Act ensures health insurance and prescription medication coverage is available to all Americans, beginning in 2014. The coverage can be maintained through a government program such as Medicare or Medicaid, an employer, an insurer, or through a policy purchased on a state health insurance exchange.

The resource is intended for you to use to educate your networks on the health plans offered through the exchange, including:

  • Overview of plan designs;
  • Financial assistance in the exchange marketplace;
  • Key components of plan selection; and
  • Coverage for prescription medicines in essential health benefits.

We encourage you to make this toolkit your own by branding it with your organization logo or putting it on letterhead. Our team is happy to assist any of our partners or advocates in branding this toolkit and disseminating to your network.
