Prevention Institute – Community Health and Health
Prevention Institute's approach to eliminating health disparities
focuses on advancing a deeper understanding of how fundamental
causes of disparity, (e.g., economics and oppression) shape community
environments and these environments, in turn, shape underlying
determinants of health and illness.
The California Endowment – Disparities in Health
By focusing on social and physical environments, the California
Endowment aims to prevent disease and injury and eliminate conditions
that lead to health disparities. Under this goal the California
Endowment funds proposals that seek to provide the knowledge and
skills to change unhealthy behaviors and to change the social
and physical environments that contribute to those unhealthy behaviors.
The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation – Health
The Foundation operates a large-scale health news and information
service on the web and a series of specialized websites, featuring
Foundation research data and the latest and best data from others,
to help to ensure that everyone has the same kind of information
and access to events as insiders do. This includes numerous postings
online and a free, weekly e-mail report on the latest topics impacting
issues of health, race, and ethnicity.
The California Pan-Ethnic Health Network
The California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) works to ensure
that all Californians have access to quality health care and can
live healthy lives. The provide numerous resources ranging from
disease prevalence data to tools for health care providers to
help overcome linguistic or cultural differences.
